It is attached to protect the condenser in the condenser manifold which is part of the anesthesia machine. During inspiration, the drive gas pushes down on the bellows, anesthetic gas flows from the bellows through the absorber, condenser, and through a unidirectional valve (inspiratory check valve) to the patient. During exhalation, fresh gas flows backwards through the condenser and absorber into the expiratory limb. The guard is provided as a support to the condenser. It is attached to the body of the machine. The guard is strong and highly resistant to corrosion. It is used in anesthesia machines such as ARC Tec 7 Vaporizer and ARC Aespire View.
