The Roll Pin, also known as Spring Pin, is a mechanical fastener that secures the position of two or more parts of a machine relative to each other in an assembly. It has body diameter larger than the hole diameter and a chamfer on either one or both ends to facilitate starting the pin into the hole. It has a longitudinal hollow cylindrical slit structure. The spring action of the pin allows it to compress as it assumes the diameter of the hole. The force exerted by the pin against the hole wall retains it in the hole, therefore a spring pin is considered a self-retaining fastener. This special purpose roll pin is used for the spring extension of end cap assembly in Incubators/warmers. The roll pin is inserted into the hole of the end cap, which helps to engage both the walls. One end of the spring is hooked into the roll pin. It is used to engage the spring extension of both walls of the end cap outer surface. The pin is made up of stainless steel material, which contains 10.5 percent of chromium in its composition. The presence of chromium helps to provide good corrosive resistance as well as an excellent toughness to the material. The pin comes as a part of MIC Giraffe™ OmniBed, ARC Aisys, Modular and MIC-Other Infant Care.
