Copper filters, made of CDA-110 Specifications Copper Material, are often used with fluoroscopy systems for high-dose procedures such as angiography and interventional applications. Low-energy X-Rays are often absorbed in patient tissue without being transmitted to the image receptor, which contributes to patient dose with little improvement in image quality. A penetrating ability of an X-Ray beam is determined by measuring half-value layer (HVL), where half-value layer is the thickness of this copper plate which reduces the beam intensity at a specified kilovolt peak (kVp). This 1mm thick square shaped copper filter is added to reduce low-energy X-Rays from the beam. The filter plate can be used with GE's OEC Mobile mini C-Arm and Vascular X-Ray (IGS740) systems.
