This Lock Nut is also referred to as a nylon-insert lock nut, polymer-insert lock nut, or elastic stop nut. It is a kind of locknut with a nylon collar insert that resists turning. The Nylon (Plastic) insert is placed at the end of the nut, with an inner diameter (ID) slightly smaller than the major diameter of the screw. The insert deforms elastically over the threads of the screw, without having threads in turn cut into it. The nylon insert locks the nut by friction against the screw under the applied radial compressive force. This lock nut does not get siezed by rust or corrosion as the bolt thread are sealed off, also because of the nylon insert, these nuts retains self locking action under all conditions of shock and vibration, and over a wide range of temperatures. As this product is made up of Stainless Steel and non-magnetic in nature, hence it can be used in the GE's MRI system's table assemblies of Brivo 355, Discovery 750 surgical 3T, 750W GEM 3T, Optima 360 1.5T, Signa Excite 1.5T, Signa HD 1.5T etc.
